Labor Force Situation of Tarakan Municipality 2017 contains graphics and tables describing the labor force situation in Tarakan Municipality 2017. The data presented are collected directly by BPS–Statistics of Indonesia (primary data) from the National Labor Force Survey conducted throughout the territory of the Republic of Indonesia in August 2017.

The number of workforce in Tarakan Municipality reached 119,169 people, increased by 14,801 people (14.18 percent) from the year 2015. Meanwhile, the number of working population in 2017 was 112,508 people, increased by 13,981 people (14.19 percent) from the year 2015. The number of unemployed people in 2017 reached 6,661 people, increased by 840 people (14.04 percent) from the year 2015. Hence, open unemployment rate in 2017 is at 5.59 percent, slightly decreased by 0.01 percent compared to the year 2015. Wholesale Trade, Retail Trade, Restaurant and Hotels employ the most of labor force, with the number of employment in those sectors are 33,503 people (29.78 percent). Meanwhile Electricity, Gas, and Water Installation and Distribution sectors employ only 1,207 people (1.07 percent).
