Abstract

In August 2024, the year-on-year (y-o-y) inflation rate in Tarakan City was 1.73 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 104.45.
The year-on-year inflation occurred due to price increases indicated by the rise in the expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverage, and tobacco group by 2.92 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 0.03 percent; the housing equipment, household appliances, and routine household maintenance group by 0.90 percent; the health group by 1.14 percent; the transportation group by 1.47 percent; the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.09 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.07 percent; the education group by 0.48 percent; the food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 0.42 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 7.08 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced a decline in index was the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 0.06 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation rate and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate in Tarakan City for August 2024 were 0.31 percent and 1.08 percent, respectively.
