Abstract

In May 2024, there will be year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation in Tarakan City of 2.52 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 104.86.
y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices indicated by the increase in the expenditure group index, namely: food, beverage and tobacco group by 5.54 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 0.51 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.57 percent; health group by 0.87 percent; transportation group by 2.62 percent; information, communication, and financial services group by 0.09 percent; recreation, sports, and culture groups by 0.15 percent; education group by 0.38 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 0.14 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 5.19 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in the index, namely the clothing and footwear group by 0.10 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate of Tarakan City in May 2024 were 0.14 percent and 1.48 percent, respectively.
