Abstract

In May 2023, Tarakan City experienced year-on-year (yoy) inflation of 2.71 percent. The highest yoy inflation occurred in Kotabaru City at 6.04 percent with a CPI of 121.80 and the lowest occurred in Pangkal Pinang City at 1.93 percent with a CPI of 114.16.
Tarakan City in May 2023 experienced month-to-month (mtm) deflation of 0.20 percent and year-to-date (ytd) inflation of 1.07 percent.
Deflation in Tarakan City in May 2023 occurred due to a decrease in prices indicated by the decline in several expenditure group indexes, namely: transportation group by 2.12 percent. Meanwhile, expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the index were: food, beverages and tobacco groups by 0.29 percent; personal care and other services group at 0.06 percent; and housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups at 0.05 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that did not experience changes in the index were: clothing and footwear groups; group of fixtures, equipment and routine household maintenance; health groups; information, communication, and financial services groups; leisure, sports and cultural groups; educational groups; and food and beverage/restaurant supply groups.
