Abstract

There was a decreased of percentage of poor people in Tarakan Municipality in 2018 compared to 2017. Poverty Rate in 2018 reached 6.15 percent, decreased 0.18 point compared to 2017 which reached 6.32 percent.

Percentage of poor people in Tarakan Municipality (6.15 percent) in 2018 was in the second lowest in Kalimantan Utara Province, after Tana Tidung Regency (5.08 percent). Percentage of poor people in Kalimantan Utara Province was 7.09 pecent.
The Poverty Line of Tarakan Municipality in 2018 reached Rp. 613,593,- per capita per month. The Poverty Line of Tarakan Municipality was the highest poverty line compared to the five Regency/Municipality in Kalimantan Utara Province.
In period 2017–2018, The Poverty Depth Index in Tarakan Municipality decreased from 1.45 in 2017 to 0.99 in 2018. It was indicated that the rate of expenditure of poor people in Tarakan Municipality tends to approach the poverty line. The Poverty Severity Index also decreased in the same period, which was 0.50 to 0.29. It was indicated that the expenditure inequality of poor people in Tarakan Municipality in 2018 is narrowing compared to 2017.
